Aaron Fobian, PhD, assistant professor in the UAB Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology, has been given the prestigious designation of Rising Star by the Association of Psychological Science.

The honor seeks to recognize early career PhD scientists who have conducted groundbreaking research.

APS Rising Stars must be nominated by one APS member and one APS fellow. Since the designation is for PhD scientists in the beginning stages of their lines of research, nominees must have received their doctoral degrees within the past five years and have significant publications, recognitions or discoveries.

"It is an incredible honor to be recognized,'" Fobian said. "I hope my work will continue to assist the physical improvement and psychological well-being of children and adolescents."
