Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama has promoted several executives.

Dow Briggs, MD has been named Executive Vice President. Most recently, Briggs served as Chief Business Officer. He joined Blue Cross in 2004 and has served as Associate Medical Director, Medical Director, Vice President of Health Management, and Senior Vice President of Business Operations. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Virginia and received his Doctor of Medicine from the UAB School of Medicine.

David Platt has been named Vice President of Large Group Sales. Platt has been with Blue Cross for 23 years. During his tenure, he has served as Executive Sales Manager, Manager of Account Executive Program, as well as a number of other management positions. Platt is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in Corporate Finance.
