Reid Jones has been named chief executive officer of UAB Medicine. Jones, who has been chief operating officer of the UAB Health System since 2013, assumes his new duties as Will Ferniany, PhD takes on the roles of CEO of the recently established UAB Health System/Ascension St. Vincent's alliance and the UAB Health System Authority, formed earlier this year.

A Birmingham native and UAB graduate, Jones has served UAB Medicine for more than 25 years. He will retain his role as CEO of UAB Hospital.

"I'm looking forward to transitioning into this new position and tackling the challenges that lie ahead," Jones said.

"Reid Jones has helped steer the Health System through some difficult times and important accomplishments during his long tenure," Ferniany said. "He understands this organization from top to bottom, and I'm confident that he will continue to provide excellent leadership."
