Birmingham-based Illuminate Rx has named Ritu Malhotra, PharmD as President.

Malhotra earned her bachelors degree in biology from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, and her PharmD at the University of Sciences in Philadelphia.

She has spent over 20 years in healthcare and pharmacy benefits, including seven years with CVS Health. Her last position there was Vice President of PBM Innovation.

The appointment comes as employers face pressures from rising specialty drug costs and soaring GLP-1 therapy utilization. Illuminate Rx's lowest net cost strategy, guided by a formulary crafted by clinical pharmacists, addresses these challenges by prioritizing biosimilars and generics, ensuring cost-effective, quality care.
