The Rainmaker Companies, a consulting group for professional services leaders, recognized a number of accountants and accounting firms for excellence at their annual conference.

Hal "Buzz" Coons, shareholder at Birmingham-based Pearce, Bevill, Leesburg, Moore PC, was named the Health Care Advisors Association Member of the Year.

Coons, who graduated from the University of Alabama in 1979, coordinates the Pearce Bevill Health Care Consulting Practice working with numerous medical practices and physicians as a consultant including tax planning and practice assessment services. In previous years, he has served as Chairman of the National CPA Healthcare Advisors Association and on the Samford University School of Accountancy Board.
