On January 1st, UAB Health System finalized the acquisition of Southview Medical Group, a multi-specialty practice on the UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham campus. As part of the agreement, UAB Health System assumes ownership of Southview Medical Group’s network of providers and facilities.

It also strengthens UAB Medicine’s ability to provide seamless access to primary care, improve care coordination, and ensure our patients benefit from the full spectrum of services.”
Southview Medical Group has served Birmingham-area patients for more than 100 years, originally as Southside Medical Group and Lakeview Internal Medicine before the two entities merged in 1994. Southview Medical Group’s more than 30 providers — spanning internal medicine, cardiology, infectious disease, endocrinology and gastroenterology — care for over 51,000 unique patients every year and have more than 130,000 patient visits annually.
