Northwest Regional Health and UAB Medicine have partnered to open a new UAB surgery clinic to serve northwest Alabama patients. The clinic, located on Carraway Drive in Winfield, opened in August and is led by Greg Kennedy, MD, PhD, the John H. Blue Chair of General Surgery at the UAB Heersink School of Medicine.
Kennedy graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine and received his PhD in cancer biology from the University of Wisconsin. He completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Mayo Clinic. He is seeing patients at the Winfield clinic and is also performing surgeries at Northwest Regional Health.
UAB has also added surgeon Joseph Walker, MD, who sees patients at both facilities. Walker earned his medical degree at UAB and completed residency training at Brookwood Baptist Health.
Northwest Regional Health became a member of the UAB Health System in January.
