MediSYS Offers Telehealth Tools

In light of the challenges for medical practices, many carriers including BlueCross of Alabama have expanded coverage to make telehealth easier to access and are reimbursing clinics for certain types of visits. As a part of this initiative MediSYS is offering additional tools to help providers carry the burden of this pandemic, including telehealth video conferencing and expanded patient payment options.

The video conferencing tool provided by MediSYS is a simple way for providers to connect with patients without having to install any software and is available as a standalone, affordable method to quickly perform E-Visits. Easy-to-use, this telehealth tool will allow practices to continue seeing patients while limiting patient and staff exposure. Patients simply join the telehealth visit via text/sms or email message sent from the clinic. Also, an optional web portal is available to complete a questionnaire and collect consent before the visit. With encryption at rest and in transit, this telehealth tool complies with the technical safeguards required by HIPAA.

Since patient cost-sharing for these and other services may still apply for telehealth, MediSYS provides a method for patients to pay via SMS text. From the schedule, clinics can send an immediate text to the patient to collect co-payments. This tool can be used for regular in-office visits as well, eliminating the need for physical contact with in-office payment methods, kiosks, etc. In addition to the pre-visit payments, patients can receive a text to quickly pay any remaining balance after insurance adjudicates the claim. This easy and fast method eliminates patient frustrations with having to remember logins for portal access. This patient-friendly payment via text helps the clinic to collect faster with less administrative time including fewer mailed statements and automatic posting to the patient's account in MediSYS.
