UAB Orthopaedics Opens Sports Medicine Clinic

Amit Momaya, MD tends to UAB basketball player Rachael Childress at the new Sports Medicine Clinic.

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the UAB School of Medicine has opened a new sports medicine clinic at UAB Highlands Hospital targeted at college-age and older athletes.

The clinic is on the first floor at UAB Highlands Hospital. It features seven exam rooms and has its own X-ray and ultrasound capability.

The facility staff includes:

Will Brabston, MD has served as a team physician for high school and college programs. He did a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Dartmouth and a fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.

Sara Gould, MD is the team physician for the UAB women's basketball team. She completed a fellowship in non-operative sports medicine at North Shore University Hospital System and has provided medical coverage for the NBA, the New York Yankees, New York Rangers and high school teams.

Stephen Gould, MD did his residency at New York Hospital in joint diseases and a fellowship with American Sports Medicine Institute. He is a team physician for UAB Athletics and was a Division 1 collegiate lacrosse player.

Kennieth McCollough, Jr., MD trained in non-operative treatment of orthopaedic and sports medicine. He began his career as an athletic trainer and physical therapist before completing medical school. He did a sports medicine fellowship with American Sports Medicine Institute and is a team physician for UAB.

Amit Momaya, MD is a team physician for UAB football and basketball. He did his residency at UAB in orthopaedic surgery and a fellowship in sports medicine at Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas.
