Q: Could you tell us about Norwood Clinic Ophthalmology?
A: We’re a part of Norwood Clinic, which is the oldest and largest multi-specialty medical group in the Birmingham area. At the ophthalmology location, we offer comprehensive ophthalmology services. This includes routine adult and pediatric eye exams; medical and surgical treatment for diseases of the eye and eyelids; and screening for ocular manifestations of systemic diseases such as diabetes.
We also have certified ophthalmic technicians and an optician to assist with the dispensing of glasses and contact lenses.
Q: Why should patients consider Norwood Clinic over others in the area?
A: We accept all major medical plans and most vision plans. Our office also has all the latest equipment, including digital retinal photography and optical coherence tomography, which allows non-invasive scanning of the retina and optic nerves.
Q: What should a first-time patient anticipate when they visit?
A: A new, comprehensive eye exam can take a couple of hours. Your eyes will be dilated for the exam, so you may want to have someone with you to drive you home afterwards. But it’s totally painless. No shots are involved, so if you’ve never had a complete eye exam, there’s nothing to fear.
Q: Your theme is “We Make People Feel Better.” Could you explain that?
A: Making people feel better is what medicine is all about, isn’t it? If you’re ill, you feel bad. Our job is to cure your illness so you no longer feel bad.
If your illness is something that can’t be cured, then we want to help you deal with it so you at least feel better.
